On June 20 morning the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Embassy in Kabul have asked Chinese citizens in Afghanistan to leave because of the security situation.

On June 3, 2021, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi chaired the fourth trilateral dialogue between Chinese, Afghan and Pakistani foreign ministers in Guiyang, with the participation of Afghan Foreign Minister Atmar and Pakistani Foreign Minister Qureshi. Wang Yi said that the dialogue among the three foreign ministers had a harmonious and friendly atmosphere, with in-depth and fruitful discussions, and eight major points of consensus were reached. Among these were: (i) firmly promote the peace and reconciliation process in Afghanistan ... Regional countries should play a more constructive role in stabilizing the situation in Afghanistan. (ii) China will continue to play an active role in improving and developing relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan. (iii) deepen high-quality cooperation in building the "Belt and Road", support the substantive expansion of cooperation to Afghanistan, and enhance the level of connectivity between the three countries and the region. (iv) strengthen counter-terrorism security cooperation, resist "double standards" in counter-terrorism, and intensify the fight against terrorist forces such as the East-Iraq Movement.
