CHINA-TAIWAN: GLOBAL TIMES CITES RESULTS OF TAIWAN POLLSTERS SHOWING INCREASE IN SUPPORT AMONG TAIWANESE FOR CCP

Coinciding with the centenary celebrations of the CCP and Xi Jinping's speech on July 1, the Global Times (July 2) cited the results of a poll released by the Taiwan Public Opinion Foundation (TPOF) on July 1, apparently showing that among adult Taiwan residents, favourable views of the CCP have increased by 4 per cent and negative views decreased by 16 per cent as compared to October 2020. It claimed that another poll conducted by "my-formosa.com" reflected the same trend, while both the Kuomintang (KMT) and DPP saw a drop in public support. The Global Times observed it is worth noting that these two pollsters are "pro-secessionists agencies".
