A Chinese Ministry of Education notification on July 8, announced that the Ministry of Education had organised and compiled the "Xi Jinping New Era" for universities, middle schools and primary schools. Describing it as "important" reading material, it said the "Student Reader's Book on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics" (hereinafter referred to as "Reader"). will be in use in primary and secondary schools across the country starting from the Fall semester of 2021. It said the 'Ministry of Education Xi Jinping Research Center on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era', Peking University, Tsinghua University, and the Institute of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era at the People’s University of China, 5 key research bases for the construction of relevant national textbooks, and many seniors in related fields, experts and front-line teachers participated in the preparation of the "Reading Book". Trial teaching was carried out in 30 schools in 5 provinces and cities, 200 front-line teachers were organized for detailed review, and the 'Reader' was sent to relevant expert committees of the National Textbook Committee for review and comprehensive strict control.
