Caixin (January 11) reported that nearly half of Chinese college graduates chose civil service, public sector, and state-owned enterprise jobs in 2021, with graduates from prestigious schools such as Tsinghua University taking a much higher percentage. It said that according to a report published on January 4 by Prof. Yue Changjun of the Institute of Economics of Education of Peking University, there were 9.09 million fresh college graduates in China last year. Some 49.3% of respondents in a survey of more than 20,000 graduates from 34 colleges across the country got a job in the civil service, public institutions and state-owned enterprises.
