CHINA-IMDEX ASIA 2015: PLA NAVY

The PLA Navy's new domestic-made Type-054A guided-missile frigate, 'Yulin' participated in the 2015 International Maritime Defense Exhibition (IMDEX Asia) held at the Changi Exhibition Centre (CEC) in Singapore on May 19 to 21, 2015 and was berthed at the naval base in Changi. Chinese Military expert Li Li said in an interview with China Central Television (CCTV) that the guided-missile frigate Yulin is a capital ship of the PLA Navy which, compared with other participating foreign warships, can showcase the great changes of the PLA Navy. She said that this is the first time for China to sent its latest air-defense frigate to attend the exhibition since the Sixth IMDEX Asia held in 2007. She expressed that the PLA Navy is now in the upgrading period, and though the Type-054A is a frigate, its full-load displacement reaches 4,000 tons, and has such new elements as stealth features, which can properly showcase the new image of the PLA Navy in the international arena.
