CHINA-TAIWAN:PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

 On January 17, 2016, DPP leader 59-year old Ms Tsai Ing-wen won Taiwan's Presidential elections by 56% or 113 votes to 68, to become the first woman President of Taiwan. A former lawyer, Ms Tsai Ing-wen is known for her strong will and ability to bring together fractious party elements. She has been educated at Taiwan National University, Cornell University in the US and the London School of Economics.
