CHINA-INDIA: MILITARY EXCHANGE

 China's official news agency 'Xinhua' on November 16, 2014,  reported that from November 9 to 14, a delegation of India's Eastern Army  paid  a friendly visit to the Military District of the Chengdu Military Region. Chengdu Military Region Commander Li Zuocheng and Political Commissar Zhu Fuxi met the Indian ground forces commander Manmohan Singh Rai.

  The Chinese side expressed that currently, due to the joint efforts by leaders of both countries, China-India relations have maintained a good momentum. As a neighbouring Military Region, the Chengdu Military Region needs to understand and maintain the high level consensus  with  India's eastern military region , maintain the status quo on the border, and make joint efforts for risk management and control of disputes, with a sincere pro-active attitude and implement the important consensus reached between the leaders on the issues related to the China and India border,the "Frontier Defense Cooperation Agreement" in a sincere spirit.

 The Indian side thanked China for the frank and friendly exchange. The Chinese side agreed and hoped that leaders of both the Military Regions will develop a specific road map for implementation of the consensus, strengthen frontier defense cooperation,continue to carry out exchanges at all levels between the Military Regions, strengthen 'border line guidance' before the final settlement of the border issue, and jointly safeguard peace and tranquility in the border areas.

  During the visit,one group of the Indian ground forces delegation also visited a Special Operations Brigade of the Chengdu Military Region, and visited  a Mechanized Infantry Brigade and other units of the Tibet Military Region.
