CHINA-PLA: POLITICAL AND IDEOLOGICAL EDUCATION CAMPAIGN

On January 7, 2015, PLA's General Political Department announced that President Xi Jinping, who is also Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), had endorsed the launch of a new year-long education campaign throughout the PLA. The campaign calls for soldiers and officers to reinforce "their confidence on the path, theory and system of socialism with Chinese characteristics" and raise their trust in and support for the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CCP) and President Xi Jinping. PLA personnel who are Party members are required to attend at least one workshop in the first half of this year and write reports on how to improve their political awareness and military skills.
