CHINA-HONGKONG:MILITARY TRAINING

Hong Kong established a new uniformed organization called the Hong Kong Army Cadets Association Limited (HKACAL), whose founding ceremony was held on January 18, 2015, at the Ngong Shuen Chau Barracks of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Hong Kong Garrison. The HKACAL's objective is to not only foster patriotism among the young people in Hong Kong, but also prepare the Hong Kong people to serve in the army in the future. Educators in Hong Kong have pointed out that the key members of the HKACAL are drawn from over 2,000 graduates of the Military Summer Camp for Hong Kong Youth, according to the Apple Daily. This summer camp is co-sponsored by the PLA Hong Kong Garrison.
