CHINA-INTERNAL: MILITARY PARADE

China plans to hold its first large-scale military parade since 2009 to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II. One key objective was described as being to "frighten Japan." (China most recently held National Day parades in 1999 and 2009 to mark the 50th and 60th anniversaries of the Oct. 1 establishment of the People's Republic of China.)
