Shilan Zhao, the 51-year old ex-wife of Jianjun Qiao, a former director of a grain store house in Zhoukou City, Henan Province from 1998-2011, was arrested on March 17, 2015, in Newcastle, Washington, on charges that she and her former husband laundered money to buy property in Washington State and lied to obtain U.S. visas through the immigrant investor program.
The US Department of Justice said it had help from the Supreme People's Procuratorate and Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China.
