On May 31, the CCP launched a new campaign with the theme "staying true to our founding mission" among all Party members, especially officials at or above the county and director level. Xi Jinping, CCP CC General Secretary and Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, delivered an "important" speech at the meeting attended by the entire PBSC. Xi Jinping said 'seeking happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation is the fundamental driving force behind the heroic fight of generations of CPC members'. PBSC member Wang Huning, who heads the 'leading group of the campaign', delivered closing remarks. Xi Jinping said 'the campaign will educate and guide all Party members and officials to deepen their understanding of the thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era and the major policies of the CPC Central Committee, as well as to strengthen their beliefs of Marxism and socialism with Chinese characteristics. Through the campaign, CPC members should foster perseverance, think what the people are thinking and work together with the people.The campaign also aims to resolutely prevent and crack down on corruption. Xi Jinping called on the Party members and officials to better arm themselves with theory and have the courage to reform themselves.
