CHINA-INTERNAL: PROPAGANDA CONTROLS
A prominent Chinese journalist, Song Zhibiao, was compelled to terminate his contract with 'China Fortune', a monthly magazine owned by Southern Metropolis Daily, a relatively liberal newspaper in Guangzhou, on July 18, 2014. Song Zhibao said the magazine’s Editor in Chief informed him on July 18 morning that local propaganda officials had directed that he should be dismissed for violating the government’s new rule by writing commentaries for Orient, a news website belonging to the Hong Kong-based Oriental Press Group.
