CHINA-INTERNAL: LEADERSHIP/CORRUPTION
Reuters, quoting the official Chinese news agency Xinhua, reported on July 29 that investigations have begun into former PBSC member and Security Chief 71-year old Zhou Yongkang, for suspected "serious disciplinary violations", an euphemism for corruption. The investigation will be conducted by the party's graft watchdog, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, and the decision was made in line with the party's constitution and anti-corruption regulations.
A number of aides and officials who worked closely with Zhou Yongkang have already been under detention or arrest for many months.
