CHINA-INTERNAL:EDUCATION
China's Ministry of Education is revising the code of behaviour for primary and middle school students and has sought feedback from the public till August 20 on the new draft provisions. Among the key features of the new draft are: i) primary and middle school students no longer require to "love the Chinese people and love the Communist Party of China (CCP)."
ii) general phrases about self-respect and confidence have been replaced with more specific directives.
iii) the code for patriotism now states that students should be aware of Chinese history and salute at flag-raising ceremonies.
iv) students are required to practice garbage classification and live a low-carbon life, and they are prohibited from smoking, drinking and Internet abuse.
