The Hongkong-based private business information company Hexun.com assessed the reasons for postponement of Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Pakistan, included in his itinerary for visits to Sri Lanka and India. Hexun listed four reasons: (i) the volatile situation in Pakistan is unknown. This visit will mean that China is now recognized by the current government, but still there can be a possibility that the situation is still confusing for Chinese diplomacy. Once the charges of election fraud on Sharif government is proved then eventually they will have to step down. This will not only make China "lose face", but will also make the diplomatic situation more passive; (ii) Pakistan has not much time and capability to plan Xi Jinping's visit in Pakistan. Reception will be a problem, and safety is the top priority for the Chinese government. They have to ensure complete security of Xi Jinping for the visit; (iii) China and Pakistan will sign numerous agreements, but the question is if the Sharif government loses power soon, whether these agreements will bring economic risks?; and (iv) China seems to recognise that China and Pakistan "all-weather friendship" is the consensus of all parties in Pakistan. Regardless of any political party coming to power, that will not affect the overall situation of China and Pakistan friendship. Thus both the Sharif government or opposition, China's attitude towards them essentially are "equal." So, rather than taking any risk, the Chinese are waiting for the change of government in Pakistan.
