CHINA-ANTI-CORRUPTION: CDIC DEPUTY SECRETARY XIAO PEI REVEALS NUMBER OF CADRES PUNISHED BETWEEN DECEMBER 2012 AND MAY 2021 AND SAYS CDIC WILL INSIST ON ARMING CADRES WITH XI JINPING'S THOUGHTS ON 'NEW ERA SOCIALIST THOUGHTS WITH CHINESE CHARACTERISTICS'

At its second press conference on June 28, Xiao Pei, Deputy Secretary of the Central Discipline Inspection Commission (CDIC) and Deputy Director of the State Supervision Commission; Xu Yousheng, Deputy Director of the CCP CC United Front Work Department; Guo Yezhou, Deputy Minister of the CCP CC International Liaison Department (ILD); and Han Wenxiu, Deputy Director of the Central Finance Office in charge of daily work briefed the reporters and fielded their questions. In the course of the press briefing Xiao Pei, Deputy Secretary of the CDIC and Deputy Director of the State Supervision Commission disclosed that from December 2012 to May this year, the discipline inspection and supervision organs filed and investigated 392 leading cadres at or above the provincial and ministerial level, 22,000 cadres at the department and bureau level, and more than 170,000 cadres at the county and division level. There were 616,000 cadres at the township level; 626,500 cases of mental insufficiency and "four winds" were investigated and dealt with in implementing the eight central regulations. He said "the discipline inspection and supervision organs will insist on arming their minds with Xi Jinping’s new-era socialist thoughts with Chinese characteristics" and strengthen political supervision.
